Almost got the 72 going with the hydroboost swap. Had issues with the 1 man bleeder but my daughter came home and offered to help. I think we got em bleed pretty good. Filled the cooling system and fired up the 351. It won't stay running. Fuel filter in q-jet is blocked. Naturally cant find one of the 50 in the garage so we run to orielly. They're out. Off to auto zone and they had a couple. Get back and put the carb line back on and runs fine. Then I hit the pedal to check the brakes and it blew a hydro line off. Put it back together and it blew again. That was enough for one day. Gonna have my buddy that does hydraulics check it out.. I plumbed it just like the 66. Maybe I got a bad fitting.

What brand / model of fittings AND hoses are you using?

Pictures of hose routing?

Not sure what brand the fittings are. Bought the hydroboost kit from Vanco. Cant recommend em. I bought a kit for the 66 and it went in ok by myself in a day. There was some oblonging holes and grinding down edges to make it first but it went in. The 2nd kit I ordered for the 72 needed the same mods to fit but it was also missing some key pieces. When I contacted him the guy would say whatever you want to hear and never call back. Different excuse every time for missing parts. I ended up pulling apart the 66 so my buddy could fab up the missing pieces at work and I bought the other parts at a local pump rebuilder. Then It took me a while to get it installed because of my back. Once this is done gotta swap in the arbs and order some tires.

I ask because some folks don't use the proper fittings. Additionally, even the proper fitting with the wrong hose can cause failures.

Aeroquip FC300 hose and fittings are rated for power steering pressures and can be assembled (and re-assembled) at home.

PS fitting to AN adapters are readily available too.

I think this swap is trying to kill me. Went back at the blown hose today. Cut the hose back a little for a fresh end. Got the outer piece on plenty far so the inner piece should grab good. Start threading the fitting pieces together. Almost 1/2 way up the threads it strips. Now I gotta find a new fitting.

Make sure your not mixing up a high pressure hose with a low pressure hose. Stripping a fitting is bad that shouldnt happen. Are you lubing the inner hose and fittings with power steering fluid. If not you should. The blue FC3000 is good stuff but watch out there is a blue low pressure version out there that wont take the pressure.

I talked to the guy at Earl's about assembling em. I'm double checking the other 3 before I run it. Its getting close. Ps fluid makes the old paint shiny.

It lives! Just drove around and topped of the tanks. Little bit of pump whine and sticks a little if I hit the brakes. I'm guessing there's still some air to bleed outright

Forward progress is a good thing. Hope you get the rest of the issues sorted out soon. Hydroboost is TOTALLY worth the effort.
