Hydroboost problems with powering up

Can anyone help??? I have a 73 bronco with a 89ford mustang 5.0
, I recently added a hydroboost out of a 90 astrovan. I am having problems with the hydroboost not pumping up the brakes. I have even purchased a remanufactured Hydroboost, but is yielding the same results. I have an extremely hard peal, like manual bakes, and after pressing the brake pedal, the pedal will not return without me pulling it up. I'm wondering, since the entire system is now new, is my power steering pump, associated with my 89 5.0, too weak? It's the yellow cased reservoir. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

did you bench bleed the master cylinder?
did you bleed the power steering system?
are all the lines hooked up correctly?

I would make sure the master cylinder is bench bled first. You can do it while it's in the Bronco by using lines cut and bent back into the master cylinder reservoir.

Correct routing of the lines is. The high pressure out of the pump to the port on the hydroboost that is closest to the reservoir canister (round brass colored cylinder). If it is clocked so the ports are on top it's the one that is on the passenger side. Then the other port goes to the high pressure on the box. The high pressure on the box is the smaller port. The 3rd one coming out of the hydroboost with the nipple on it is a low pressure line that goes to the power steering reservoir and the low pressure coming out of the box goes to the cooler if you have one and then routes to the power steering reservoir.

What does your power steering fluid reservoir look like? The stock Saginaw power steering fluid reservoir does not contain enough fluid to completely charge the system. You need to add a larger reservoir, at least for the initial system startup.

I put a piece of radiator hose on the Saginaw reservoir fill opening (about 12 inches) and clamped it on with two large hose clamps. I then made a vented cap out of PVC plumbing supplies. It worked after that.

Of course, you can purchase a fancy NASCAR one if you wish.

If you are running a "T" from the booster and PS steering box, those two lines need to come in perpendicular to each other. A restriction in the return lines can cause issues too. A lot of steering coolers can cause this problem. You can actually see the pedal drop on its own, keeping your brakes engaged while driving. Not good.
