In need of factory gas tank mounting insight

My roadster gas tank apparently had been "Jerry-rigged" back into place by a P.O. Unfortunately, it makes for difficult re-mounting correctly. We have the Toms Bronco gas tank strap coming in the mail, but could benefit from some photos of proper gas tank fitment. Also, was there anything between the tank and the body originally in 1966? Anybody have a photo of the frame with factory tank attached properly without the body on the frame?

If a '77 is the same as a '66, the strap fits into the rock shield that the gas tank sits in. The strap goes from that spot on the pass side of the shield to a j bolt on the drivers side that can be tightened to hold the tank down.

I know I have the pics you want but for the life of me can't find them! There are frame brackets that limit the top of the tank so it doesn't touch the body otherwise there wouldn't be space for the sending unit.

What does part #10 do in that diagram? Is it a heat shield? If yes, why isn't there one on the other side as well (my assumption is because stock broncos didn't have duel exhuast, just looking for confirmation). My truck has duel exhaust, so I'm wondering if I should add a heat shield on the other side as well.

Also, does anyone know if there's a mounting solution for the stock tank that doesn't use a strap? Something similar to the mounting solution BC Broncos uses for their 23gal tank?

Thanks!

It's a combination heat shield and bracket. The bottom strap that holds the tank up connects to the tab/slot part in the lower right corner.

Haven't seen a mount setup for stock tanks but it wouldn't be too hard to fab up.

Heat shield depends on how close your exhaust is to the tank I guess. I don't run them.
