Hello Everyone,

I'm the classic major lurker. I have been a member here for years, but haven't really spent a lot of time on my EB during that stretch. Got real busy with life but hopefully I'm at point where I can start giving the bronco some love again.

I bought the bronco in 1998 and did the majority of work within the first three years of having it. It had about 59k miles, stock paint but mechanically was neglected. It already had the rear fenders cut and a horrible stiff 4" lift. The good news was it was about 99% rust free. The wife and I drove about 300 miles to pick it up. It drove and ran fine most of the way home until the 1970s era alternator crapped out. The battery finally drained and the motor stalled about 100' from my driveway. I coasted to the garage door and barely tapped the brakes to get her parked.

The body was taken down to bare metal by a local media blast shop. Fresh paint inside and out. Everything was put back together with all brand new seals, gaskets, flares, etc.

I installed a front disk conversion with a vacuum booster. That was the best money spent! Replaced all the ball joints, bushings, and new drive shafts. Replaced the old suspension with a Duff 3.5" kit with the double shock hoops and mounts, front and rear.

Under the hood, I built a 351w with World Products heads, roller rockers, rpm intake, holley 650 mech double pumper, full length headers, MSD 6AL, etc, etc...

That's it in a nutshell. I have drug the poor bronco from coast to coast in six different states. Future upgrades will be Hydroboost, new gears front and rear, and a 4r70w swap. Thanks to all of those that have shared so much experience and advice on the board.

I saw you were from Yuma and had to post. I was ststioned down there in the late eighties early nineties and loved that place. I get back there once or twice a year with work and cant believe how its grown, almost like coming home.

.. I guess I too want to scold you. For post no 1 ....And all this fine Bronco talk wasted on the Better half. At least you could run it through the desert and show us pictures of it dirty.

Thanks Guys.

Most of those pics were taken in a lemon grove. That is sorta offroad. Not really. Here is a pic from Superstition Mountain and one from the Imperial Sand Dunes near Glamis and Oldsmobile Hill.

swyman inspired me to post finally. We have been great friends for about 35 years. Funny after all these years, three guys from the same school bus route own blue early broncos.

Thanks bronconut. Me and my bronco lived in Orlando for a couple of years too! Over on the east side of town near Waterford Lakes. Drove it to work in Sanford and out to the beaches a lot while there.
