Hopefully I know what I am doing, no turning back. It was pushed to the passenger side over an inch and both inner fenders were buckled. Question, is the bracket on driver side from inner fender to core support factory or can I get rid of it?

That bracket was not factory installed and you can get rid of it. In fact I would insist.:) EDIT: After reading the next few posts I need to have Jon revoke my Guru status. I figured since the ones I worked on didn't have that bracket that it was added. Sorry

I hate to disagree but what I'm seeing is factory.
The odd looking brace that runs at an angle from the top of the core support to the inner fender is factory.

Yep, that’s a factory brace. Not sure when they started adding them.

As to Slowleak's comment, the brace was used on my 76 with a June 28 build date.

I think the part you're asking about is the "windshield frame cowl panel". Our parts suppliers just can't provide a very good picture of it; too many contours. It cups downward creating a trough under the cowl, seemingly for the purpose of retaining moisture!

You'll need this part too... I used a brake press to make that section of suppport that is rusted out. you can see it laying up against the upper floor board section
