What is the best amount of inches to lift my ‘73? I want it to look more modern but not overly aggressive. I am thinking 3.5”. Does that sound like the right amount to sit on top of the 35” wheels I have?
To fit 35's with that you'll need some decent fender trimming and flares. Nothing crazy just strategic cutting. 33's would clear easier but I went 35's too when i had 2.5"/1" combo.
I’ve got 3.5 with another 1” body lift and true 35’s. Standard flare location. If you don’t want the extra inch you can move the flares up. Some will cut it to the body line for flares. I’m partial to the mix that I have but as bnut indicated 2.5 suspension means less impact to the steering geometry.
My 67 is 3.5" suspension lift 1" body 35x12.50x15" tires on 10" wide rims. BFG KM2 tires. It looks really good but if you do go off road it may rub at full stuff and mine does hit the radius arms if I turn really tight.
If you go with 33" tires a 2.5" lift is perfect. should have no rub and really clean look. That's what I am going to do on my 70 .
I cant post pic from this computer I will post some on Tuesday.
Totally agree that a small body lift and moderate suspension lift is the best way to go. My trail rig is 3 1/2 SL plus 1 BL. I will be adding a 2 1/2 SL to my 72 which already has a 1 inch BL. A small BL plus a reasonable SL get you the clearance needed and keeps the COG low. The 1 inch BL also gives you some needed extra room for upgrades like twin sticks and Ford Mustang or Explorer fuel injection.
