well, due to family things I didn't get to go to Hot Springs so I decided to do some upgrades to my rig. Here is the best one. Mars Chariot posted awhile back about his homegrown extension and graciously posted the dimensional diagram. It fit like a champ, except if you have a body lift make sure to factor that in. %)

anyway, I am sure it will help with cooling but have not had a chance to try it out yet. Either way it can't hurt and it does add a little bling to the engine compartment. this was added to a metal 2" body lift fan shroud.

So thanks to Mars for posting the diagram and AWS for getting it built.

Ben

Glad that worked out. It looks goods. A lot of prep and fitting, but the results pay for themselves with it all comes together.

Here be the plans and the installed view:

No kidding sorry I missed the carnage on Michaels way. I got to feeling a little better last night and decided to see if I could get the extension mounted up. I ended up buying one of the cheap Prestone flush kits and flushed the system out pretty good, but I think I will flush it again before OCBR and see how much crud has accumulated in that time.

Is there a way to mount this to a fiberglass shroud? I don't know anything about fiberglass.

I would drill it and back the rivets up with a washer or peice of metal? Be very careful with the stock style shroud. I appears to be fiberglass but my experience leads me to beleive its some kind of weaker "fiber" materail.

I believe I have the one from Chuck, but it has been awhile so I am not sure. I thought there was some plans for an entire new shroud. Do you know what guage of steel your shroud is mad out of? I may end up just copying my fiberglass shroud and make a new metal one with the extension.

Wow, nice work Ben! That looks great, can't wait to see it up close. I have been working on some improvement to my cooling system also. I have never had a run away but it gets a little hotter than I like when idling on the trail. So I am going to add a pusher fan to assist my mechanical fan at low speed. I ordered all the parts last week and plan to install them this weekend.

Thanks Dozer, I can't take credit as it was Marschariots idea and schematic. Flousberg, I am on vacation and won't be home till monday so I can't check. I beleive my shroud came from Toms though.

Dozer, I have got some work to do on my rig as usual but I can't wait to see everyone again ASAP.
