Hello,

I am requesting some assistance. I am replacing the drum brakes with rotor/caliper conversion kit. At this time, I am converting the FB to rotors and leaving the BB as drum, albeit new spring,shoes...etc. I haver also purchased a new master cylinder, as well as new brakelines.

The new master cylinder is the Ford F250 "Camper Special." For anyone looking for a part number, the rebuild is Cardone 10-1638. TBP said to ask advance auto using, 78 F250 2wd, 360cid with ports on left side.

Question: The old master cylinter brake rod appears to be permanently attached. I removed the c-ring, to remove the plunger, but even after taking the rod, spring, bushing, out of the old master cylinder, I see no way to re-use this rod. I don't recall reading anything about this during my research. The new master cylinder has no push rod included, nor appears to have a way of attaching a rod internally.

What am I missing?

My bronco is a 1975, 302cid v8, automatic
New Master cylinder, Cardone 10-1638
The brake conversion kit was purchased from tom's bronco parts, part# 2434

I didn't attach my rod, it sits in there even with my extreme off road camber, been there for 3+ years without a single issue.

This part? And yes the spring holder to the piston is missing. Manuel brake set up not power.

Shamu .. yes, the rod (or plunger). Do I need to have a conversion kit for the rod too ?

Typicall manuel master cylinders come with tis part. If you see the open cut out there is a spring that locks it into the plunger. If the MC is trashed cut the plunger and then you can re use the rod. Or try sliding a plastic straw inside to take the pressure off the spring.
Clear as mud. Good luck.
