Mastercraft Rubicon front seat install

I am waiting on a set of Mastercraft Rubicon front seats; should be here in a couple of days. I included a set Mastercraft mounts (EB specific). My Bronco is a 66 with stock seats, and I have an aux fuel tank.

From anyone who has experience in installing this setup, do the brackets/sliders mount to stock seat mounting holes in the floor, or should I expect to do some drilling? Either way, the passenger side install looks pretty straight forward.

However, on the driver's side, are the stock seat mounting bolts threaded into captive nuts welded underneath the floor, or do I have to first remove my aux fuel tank? Thanks for any help or tips to make this a smooth install.

Mastercraft Rubicon seat install -update 1

Seats arrived yesterday and look fantastic. Normally I would have ordered from one of the Bronco-specific venders, but being from Canada, shipping cost would have been more than the cost of the seats!

So, I ordered from a 4 Wheel Parts outlet: free shipping from Mastercraft in California to them in Vancouver, BC - $363 Cdn for the seats (each) and $224 Cdn for the mounts/sliders (each). Took to weeks for delivery.

Passenger seat is in; only had to drill two holes in the floor, plus I used all stainless fasteners and not the hardware included with the mounts. I will do the driver side install today, hoping I don't have to drop the aux fuel tank. Plus, see somewhat helpful link:

Mastercraft Rubicon seat install -update 2

So, driver seat in my Bronco was through-bolted, but I think originally it wasn't and there were captive nuts on the bottom of the floor. I was able to get at 3 of the 4 bolts (wifee helped!) without dropping the aux fuel tank.

For the fourth bolt I will have to drop the aux fuel tank. However, I am impatient
and the tank is about 2/3 full so I popped the bolt head off with a mix of cold chisel and hack saw blade so that I could remove the seat base. Tomorrow I will mount the drivers seat base by 3 bolts, drive for a while until the tank is empty, and then drop it to do a proper job with four bolts.

hey Roy, sorry I missed your post.. I put some Mastercraft seats in a build about 6 mos ago, some alignment issues but pretty close bolt in, I had to put some 1" spacers under the front to get the right feel, pricey, but very nice seats tho!! JD

I wouldn't use stainless fasteners on seats ever-- there's nothing structural about those at all.

Fablife, thanks for the spacer idea - the seat backs do look pretty upright. I'll drive for a bit and see. I also had some minor adjusting to do for alignment of the brackets with the floor.

U10072, to clarify, I used 3/8 " stainless bolts/washers/lock nuts to through-bolt the mounts on the floor. Half the bolts I removed were seized and broke; they were regular steel, and I see some adjustment in the future.

I'd like to know how the seats perform on long drives. We hear a lot about seats for offroad use, it seems like the seat market targets off road use, but we seldom hear about road/highway comfort. My U14 will be a highway rig.
