Mini spool removal

Ok guys quick question can I remove the mini spool in the rear without replacing the carrier. As in is the mini spool just an extra part or is there more to it. Any help is appreciated.

You will need to get new spider gears, if you don't have the ones that came out. The attached video shows a mini spool being installed should show what you need to know backwards. good luck!
