MSD Tach Adapter

I have the MSD 6AL ignition and just bought a Sunpro Super Tach II. NOW, I find out that I have to buy a $50 tach adapter just to make the stinking thing work. That's $20 more than I paid for the tach!!!
Can I just attach it to the coil, will it be as accurate if I do?

Thanks,
Steve

I have an msd and I thought that I was going to have to have an adapter for my sunpro also, but I decided to plug it in to the msd's tach port and I'll be damned but it works great-for like 5 years now, can't hurt to try

Should work on the negitive side of the coil or the tack plug on the MSD

I'm not an expert but I thought the MSD "multi spark" screws up trying to
use coil negative as tach trigger? Isn't that the reason MSD has to
provide the tach port as part of the ignition box?

My ~8 year old MSD catalog lists Sun tachs as requiring a tach adaptor.
Part 8910 when using "white wire trigger" and part 8920 when using
"magnetic trigger connector".

I tried plugging it into the MSD tach plug and when I started the Bronco it didn't move, then I tried plugging it into the negative coil. Again, nothing. I'm going to double-check the other two wires and make sure they are making a good connection.

Never heard of that, my Older Sunpro works fine off the MSD. I had to tach adapt my Stang to use the factory tach.
