TX-ZACH
Newbie
I have not posted up in a while but wanted to share with the group because its always fun to how good they look coming back from the paint booth. I also have a question on the door tag and best place for reproducing. Here are some pics of before, after shots due in about 6-8 weeks.
Color has been a hot topic with the Mrs however she has claimed this EB but allows me to maintain and wrench on it for her. :0 Originally she was set on wimbledon white which went to britney blue then back to white. I showed her various pics of all the popular colors even considered a modern edge of the new color area51. They say that the Gen 1's do not have the lines to pull off black so we are going to find out.
I live in Texas and have great access to restomod champions many who are fantastic with EB's. I reached out to many including some small paint shops. Most of the paint & body shops are only interested in modern vehicle insurance jobs and dismissed me quickly. The restomod guys all wanted $20-$30k to paint this beast but I just was not willing to spend 80% of my acquisition cost on paint. After a long search and a bit of luck I happened to find a small shop in Freeport TX which is a sleepy coastal town in the Houston area off FB. https://www.facebook.com/JCs-Body-Work-Paint-102262131115170/
I spent the last couple of weekends pulling off rollcage, bumpers, lights and removing the interior etc. The cage and old bumpers are going to a powercoat guy for a satin black. Seats will go to a local upholstery shop.
I was quoted $11k minus any hardware they might need once they start peeling parts. To be honest this one is in very good shape and near zero rust. Anyway we are excited to see her come back and I will be sure to post up pic's.
