Mocking up the custom dash design, so I can have it ready when I do the re-wire. Still trying to figure out spacing. I'll do a physical mock up to see how it works later on.

There will be a roll cage in front of the speakers, so no glove box. The color is irrelevant.

Thoughts? Suggestions

Not a fan of the look of speakers in the dash, but that's just me (and you asked ;) )

I like the a/c vents but if you go with the BC unit it has only three ports for three vents. So I guess just one in the middle.

I like the speedo move but I'm also not a fan of speakers in the dash. My 2 cents: Try moving the speakers to the doors or kick panels. Also I'd try to keep the glove box. The Bronco glove box door is distinctive and helps to keep things looking Ford Classic. Plus its useful. Are you buying a new blank dash or building your own? If your building one you can get more creative with the dash itself. Even starting with a blank you can graft some extensions on that can offer extra space. I've see dashes with an extra 2" grafted in at the bottom. that really opens up space for stuff. This is what I've been working into my build. Good luck post up some pics of what you decide to do.

taking the opportunity to show off dash (before steering col. install)... :D

Kind of a different direction than you but its all good.
Have you thought about a USB power port? mine is on the far right, under the volt meter.

In the future, I might add a tablet in a dash extension over the trans tunnel... you might be able to but one up in the dash itself. Just a thought...

I'm not a stereo snob, but I do like proper musical "staging" - with sound coming at you, and where you can hear it in stereo. I don't just want the interior randomly filled with sound, so that's why speakers in the dash. Speakers behind driver's seat in the side panel, and a sub in the rear pass. panel.

Also, I want a cleaner dash, so no speaker, ash tray, or glove box. I have a tuffy center console to store stuff.

Here's revised version 3

This is something like I am wanting to do with my dash. Did you just get a blank dash from BC Broncos and cut everything out? Looks great

What are the two blue lights on either side of the steering column hole?

Yes, it is a BC Bronco blank dash that I drilled a bunch of holes in...

There are actually 4 push buttons across the bottom. From left to right, overdrive defeat switch (for the 4R), horn button, engine start button and main power button that turns the truck on and off.

My last winter project was to install the dash and completely rewire the truck. total custom job. Wouldn't have a snowballls chance in hell of completing it myself. Major assist from buddy who is electrical engineer...

Here is the latest rough version. Thoughts (besides those not liking speakers in the dash)?

I may switch the middle AC vent and the AC controls locations.

Ok, I would like to just throw a few things out there.

1- Have you thought about your AC vents when it comes to the Defrost?

2- I would try to incorporate your USB into the same Various switch section if possible.

3- If possible I would add two (2) AC vents in the center of the dash (this can be for extra air for the driver and passenger or for the rear of the bronco for the rear seat or circulation).

4- Where are you going to mount your fuze panel?

5-Add Tweeters in the place of your existing speakers and move the speakers just below the dash in a below the dash box (there are two options, with and without a hole).

6- Look at post #164 (Rob did a great job with similar ideas to yours)

I like where your going just responding with my own .02.

good luck on your decision.

I like it and I'd like to make my own someday as well.

I say there should be no issue with speakers in the dash, it's your bronco put them where you want. I assume you are planning on having this CNC cut (laser, water, plasma, trained beavers, etc.) so you could create a speaker grill in the cutout and mount the speakers from behind but I also get that depth may be an issue.

Otherwise, I say good luck and if you need a SolidWorks file or dxf for a shop to cut I can help you out.

Thanks for the ideas!

1- Have you thought about your AC vents when it comes to the Defrost?

What do you mean exactly?

2- I would try to incorporate your USB into the same Various switch section if possible.

You're probably right. I was just thinking of having it so both pass. and driver would get to it easily.

3- If possible I would add two (2) AC vents in the center of the dash (this can be for extra air for the driver and passenger or for the rear of the bronco for the rear seat or circulation).

As I understand from a previous post, BCB's A/C only allows for 3 vents. If that's wrong, then I'm all about 4 vents!

4- Where are you going to mount your fuze panel?

I'm actually going to have 2. Probably on the driver's side.

5-Add Tweeters in the place of your existing speakers and move the speakers just below the dash in a below the dash box (there are two options, with and without a hole).

I'm really picky about sound and just don't like only tweeters only pointed at my face. Just my preference.

I like that tunnel cover!

Very cool!

Thanks! - Jim

Jim, I sent you a PM but I also wanted to add a few more things (I hope you don't mind).

1- Where are you going to but the vine tag if you are eliminating the glovebox?

2- I'm not saying no speakers just suggesting putting tweeters in the dash and your 4.5 in the lower console section like the link I sent... more sound options ( the console could also house your amp (if your running one))

3- I am going to run a gen4 vintage air setup (with 4 vents) you may want to ask BC if they are flexible in their kit (if you want 4 vents)

4-I also suggest looking into the measurements of both that may also help you with your decision of 3 or 4 vents.
