We had an adults only Pinewood derby race for some of the parents and other adults for our local scout troop. I spent a lot more time than I had originally anticipated but I think the Bronco turned out pretty good and just had to share it with some people that would appreciate it as much as I did. Most of the others at the race thought it was cool but they don't really get it like I figured everybody on here would.

What do you think?

I knew the car would be a lot bigger than any of the other ones trying to be as aero-dynamic as posible. I also work for a bank so I thought it was fitting to have the licence plate say 2BG2FAIL...

That is great! My kids school has a race every year and now I know what we'll be building for this year!

Very cool. I have fond memories of my Pinewood Derby days. I've seen some cool cars but this one takes the cake.

Great Idea!!!

When my son was in cub scouts (pre-Bronco ownership) we made cool-looking cars and didn't really worry about speed....he would usually win 'Best Looking car' each time. We had my Dodge Dakota work truck, a 50's Willys pickup truck, Bobby LaBonte's Interstate Battery NASCAR, a flatbed truck with an ice cream cone on the back, and finally....the DeathMobile from Animal House. I'm sure if he was in it now, we would have had the Bronco, too. He has kept them all.

Thanks for the props guys.

Which kit did you start with?

I just started with the standard wood block from the scout office. bought some 1/2" thick pieces of wood from home depot and started cutting and shaping

As for Revelation noticing the back tires don't totally line up with the cutouts... I'm not going to mention the obvious jealousy in that message;) I did notice the tires not lining up. it kind of bothered me. now that the race is over I've taken one of my 2 year old sons toy trucks apart and put some much bigger tires on it. just didn't look right with those smaller tires on it.

Very cool.
I remember showing up w/ my PD car in Boy Scouts...did it all myself with a knife, whittling. Still looked like a somewhat rounded block of wood, but man I was proud of it. Showed up at the meet and Couldn't figure out for the life of me how these other kids got theirs looking so cool! Well...their dads did them, of course (we really had no power tools growing up), but I had no idea. Put mine on the track...all four wheels dropped off. Waa Waa... :)
