Just do the cherokee setup, I am going to in the next week. I think it is probably about the same cost initially but cheaper in the long run with the cherokee replacements.

DO THE CHEROKEE....just dont make the spring tension too tight like I did...the arm flipped off on the first use.

Plus, do the wiper delay conversion....awesome

X2 on the Cherokee conversion, wipes much better than the stock blades, plus you can gain an inch or two of coverage. Check with Todd Z. about the delay, he often has the switch at good price.

I used the standard(bronco) wiper part with the release and just found another arm off of a dodge k-car. Everything looks similar to the cherokee, with out all the headache. Been running it over a year now-no problems. I can run longer blades too.Chuck

Definitely, but do not make the spring tension too LIGHT EITHER like I did the first time. It wouldn't even touch the windsheild practically. Instead of 1 rivet holding the arms together, I have two now!

I've got cherokke wiper arms, and I'd use them again in a second. ditto on the spring tension. the cherokee ones are too strong. I used old Mustang springs and it's perfect.

i do, but its still at work. ill get it for you;)

as for using the stock springs...all i did was heat it up red hot and stretch it to the right length to where the tension isnt too tight. woked perfect, and i guess you could say the tension is adjustable by doing it that way;D it took a few times to get it right, but its better than hunting different springs;D

Rednck,

Since you heated them up to red, you have changed the hardness and annealed the spring. It won't hold it's tension as long. I don't know how much stress is on it for the wipers so it might be fine. If you want to return it to the hardness these are the steps you would have to do.
1. Heat it up until it looses it's magnetic properties
2. Cool it in an oil bath (motor oil will work. be aware of the flash, use long tongs).
3. It is now as hard as it will probable get. It is probably too brittle.
4. Temper it in your oven 2 times 2hours @ 350°. This brings down the harness

This may be more then you want to do to save some money. But now you know what you need to do on other items. FYI this will not work on mild steel items as there is not enough carbon.

Cheers
Martin

73stallion...looks like all these part numbers are the same. i found some 13" blades at wally world for $3 each and used those. works great so far;)

So we have the arms and blades; any part numbers for the switch and delay.

How about a vender, other than Duffs?

I bought all the parts from Napa last week and just finished this upgrade
too (along with intermittent wiper switch :)

I'm not trying to bag on anyone, but 350°? Are you sure?
I'm no metallurgist, but I do deal with heat treated parts and 350° isn't much heat at all. If our parts drop below 1000° we'll redo them. I know this all depends on the material but...

Again, I don't want to tell anyone their business, but I seriously doubt this will do anything more than stink up the kitchen and put you in deep kimchi with the wife.

Just one man's opinion, doesn't make it right,
