Hey guys-
I put a new srereo in my truck today. Getting ready for a road trip tomorrow. Well, I got in the truck tonight and I noticed this red light on in the center of the speedo cluster. About two minutes later the lights start flickering on and off, along with the red light on the speedo, and the voltage gage is flickering too. So I go home and disconnect the radio completely. Its still doing the same thing. Whats weird is that it doesnt do it at first. Only after about three minutes. Any thoughts would be much appreciated on whats going on.
Thanks
JC

It could be many things, I don't really know but I wanted to bring it back to the top. The red light is the high beam indicator and also include some more info on how you hooked up the radio and what condition the electrical system is in. Someone will have the answer.

that red light in your speedo cluster should be your high beam light....the "amp" meter will flicker with the lights. Are your lights on? Where did you get power for the stereo? Is the foot switch for the highbeam working well?

YOU know I dont think Ive ever had the high beams on on this truck. And when I was doing the wiring I pressed that floor switch. I thought I pressed it again, but must not have. Maybe there is something wrong with that switch. I disconnected the radio, but the power source for the main batt line was running right out into the engine bay and connected I think to the voltage regulator. It's small and round and it has a post on it with about six things connected to it (sorry I know thats vague). The Acc power line was running up to the ignition switch.
IN regards to the main batt line, One thing I was thinking about that is that there should be some sort of fuse linkage to be safe, right? THe guys that owned this truck before me had a lot of stuff jerry rigged, as I seem to find new stuff done half-a$$ all the time
Well I'll take a look at that high beams switch. The other thing I was thinking is that maybe I bumped some wires and they're touching.
Sorry so long. THanks guys.
JC
