New 33" tires on my Luber

I was tired of hanging up the diffs on rocks and I wanted a little more clearance so I started shopping for 33" tires. This is what I came up with.

Specs:
2.5" lift
2" body lift
Old tires 31x10.50x15
Old rims 15x8 3.75" backspace 19mm?? offset
New tires 255x85x16-33"tall, 10" width
New rims 16x8 4.50" backspace 0mm?? offset
Moved axle 1" back. I also needed to roll the rear fender lip a little.

I have a 1976 front end and 1 ton tie rod ends and the rims clear by about 1/8".

I still need to add a rear bump stop for as the shock is acting as the bump stop.
Took it for a test drive and it rear rubs on the front of the fender when I am under power. I will see if the bump stop will keep it out of the fender.

Here are the pictures. Last pictures show the difference between the old and new tires and wheels.

Here is before and after. The before picture still has the axle in the stock position.

Good job! Nice stance!
I love the picture of the rear tire stuffed in the fender well.

Unfortunately I am going to need to "unstuff" it a little to keep it from rubbing. I am going to try an inch on the bump stops.

Definitely a nice rig and stance.. You'll get it tweaked to exactly how you like it

Since you up-sized your tires are you planning on re-gearing? Your garage says 3.50s.

That is one sexy LUBR! love the color. Few questions for you as Im in the process of similar mods.

Which method did you use to move the axle back 1"? Stock driveshaft worked with that and your current lift setup?

Bronco Designs hood? What did you use to fill in the vent holes? I think Im doing the same on mine. How was the install? About to tackle it myself so any tips would be great! Mine has the bracing and Im using the stock latches with gas shocks. I also need to cut the vent holes open at the rear

No clearance issues with that side step and the gas tank?

Pic 7 and 8, it looks like your axle is shifted slightly over to the drivers side. Are you using an adjustable trac bar, riser and drop pitman arm?

Moving the axle back was pretty simple. Drilled the top and bottom plate 1" forward and reinstalled. I was a little worried about not having enough axle perch left but I have had no issues. The rear driveshaft was plenty long. One thing that may have helped is that I think the NV3550 install kit moves the transfer case back 1.5 inches.

The hood came from Wildhorses. I cant remember which one. It came with all the reinforcements so I just bolted on the gas shocks and I used hood pins. I used a dremmel tool to cut the vent holes at the rear.
Not sure what you mean by filling the vent holes.

I haven't tried to put the aux tank back in yet. It may be an issue with the sliders. I was planning on putting the tank back in a few weeks. I'll let you know.

The last pictures one side had the 31x10.50 and the other side had the new tires. I was kind of comparing the tires on how they sit under the bronco.

I just got back from running the rubicon and I probably could have used a little taller gearing but the diesel idles through everything so it wasn't too bad. Here is a small video showing the speed.

how does the 4bt cruise on the highway? Does it do well on long trips or is it mainly for the trails

Ahh yours must be the Highlander hood. Heres my Bronco Designs hood with the openings up front. I dont think I want those opened up so I'll have to have the body shop fill them in and smooth them before paint. Mine also has the bracing underneath

After you dremel'd the vent holes open, did you need to smooth the edges out? Sand paper? File?

It is actually my daily driver. I drive about 50 miles round trip to work with 30 on the freeway. The 4bt is perfect for the freeway and off road.
