Mig welding galvanized to tub steel, Just "weld as usual?" or do I need special wire or gas?
Thanks

I always clean (with flap disk) the galvanizing where it will be welded. The zinc melts or vaporizes faster than the steel, so it will be gone near the weld anyway.

Also make sure you have good ventilation. It gives off noxious fumes, and can make you very sick. I have never heard of anyone having any long term effects, but the short term effects are flu like and no fun.:(

where did you find a galvanized door post? i've not seen them, though i haven't been looking for one... it might just be coated w/a weld-able primer.
