90% or the time when a radio is cutting out it is your ground. Check your ground wire first and if that isn't it check your two hot wires.

I'm not really sure, but olskool days radios used the body as a ground, via bolt post rear of radio. Sounds like a lose or failing connection either hot or ground. Be it wire connection point of install or wiring within the truck where power comes in. Does it happen when your parked? driving? or anytime?

Its a 'lose connection' either radio install or power coming to it or ground. Start at the radio and work your way back to the source and check grounds.

Clean power and ground are needed.

Pull a new feed from the battery is the best, and consolidate all of your grounds to one point. Oversize the ground wire.

Cutting out is indicative of a loose connnection somewhere. You sure the plug is snug in the back of the head unit? A loose butt splice somewhere?

Get it off of the ignition ckt, nothing good can come of that.
