No cigarette socket up front?

Was going to set up a dashcam, and it came with the typical "lighter" plug-in, but there's no socket up front (on Big Bend) Any suggestions? (without cutting the new dash cam's wire).

You can buy a cig lighter plug and wire it into one of the accessor power switches or back to the fuse panel. Then just mount the port under or in the dash. I added one to my 67 so I could run an air pump to pump up an air mattress for camping.

There is also an adapter you can buy to plug into the back of the rear view mirror (if you have the upgraded mirror) which allows you to plug in a camera up there out of the way. That is the way I have mine plugged in.

Mine’s got one on the rear wall of the center console. It’d be pretty easy to run a long cable to that one if you don’t want to wire an adapter under the dash.

I ended up using AUX switch #6, wired to white wire that leads to behind the glove box. Attached a female socket and plugged in camera socket.....

Johnny Rebel did ya notice the small sliding tray cannot slide to the rear (in the groove) because the lighter socket cover is about and 1/8" too high, hits the bottom of the tray, Bad CAD design no one caught...

Sure didn’t, but I looked again and see exactly what you’re talking about. As luck would have it, the adapter in the pic is a low profile style so it clears without an issue even with a cable plugged in. A standard size would definitely be a problem though. Good catch!

Is the power port on the top of the dash not standard? I never looked at my order but thought they were.

My Big Bend doesn’t have one that I can find. Only has the USB ports below the center stack, a cigarette plug inside the console, and the USB & 120v plugs on the rear of the console. May also have something in the rear cargo area, but haven’t ever looked.

USB hook up to the dash cam?
