Are there any good shops in the norther colorado area? Maby looking in the wrong spots but I cant seem to find someone who will do the work that I want done and not try to squeeze me for pennys. I've attempted some things but just cant seem to get things running like she deserves.

What are you needing to do?

Most of the fellow Bronco owners I've met enjoy working on them as much as driving them. Probably what started out of necessity became a fun challenge. At least that's been true for me. I've also met some selfless people on this board from CO (too bad Miley's gone) that are willing to help for nothing. Like they say "If you want it done right, do it yourself".

In a world with Grease Monkey and Walmart, most shops have become parts replacers so they can survive and make a small living. They might be intrigued with something old or one of a kind, but they really can't afford to take on that kind of business. They also can't afford to hire skilled or experienced help. If they are specialty shops they have to charge big bucks for custom work just to stay open.

What do you need?

Just wondering what you need help with I live in windsor. There is a very good shop on south colloge called Bullhide 4X4 they are the only guys I trust with my bronco. The head mechanic there has a very modified bronco and knows them inside and out. let me know what all you need.

I agree with cbrpwrd69 that Bullhide 4x4 is a great shop. Another great shop in north Fort Collins is 4x4 Off Road & Used Parts. It is owned by Bob Schleppy (formerly of Fort Collins 4x4). His brother Ray Schleppy runs the counter at Bullhide 4x4.

Let us know what you need. I'm sure there are some guys in the area that can help.

Thanks for the support fellas. I baught the Bronco as a body only, about 3 years ago, and somehow got it to drive. I am not a very experienced mechanic but am liking the learning process.

The main problem I am having is the trans (C-4). It was free with the rebuilt engine I got from a friend, but dosent shift right or engage in park. I took it to best western trans and they suggested pulling it apart and rebuilding. But for the $$$ I would just assume put in something else. But have never done any thing like that.

The list would never end with all the things I would like to do but Im trying to do it a step at a time. But when it comes to trans, gears, lockers, and getting a smooth running engine I am kind of lost.

I have been to Ft. C 4x4, but will check out Bullhide as a possible alternitive. Its a bit of a story for me about Ft. C 4x4. No offense to supporters. And like COblu77 said, I would like it done right and if possible to do it myself.

Thanks again 2 all. If anyone is doing any wrenchin and need a hand Im always up to help and learn.

I don't mind helping out or showing you, as long as it's not body work! :)

I wouldn't use Ft. Collins 4X4 either I have had a few bad experiences and know of other that have had the same.

Bullhide is very good and legit, but they are a little expensive.

Keep on learning as you go because if you're ever on a trail and something goes wrong you'll want you're own knowledge and experience.

It's good to see another Early bronco in the Ft.C area. Do you have any pics?

(Sorry for the hijack.)

Silverbullet - for transmission work you might talk to Advanced Transmission out by the Airport. That's who Bullhide 4x4 recomended to me. I haven't had them rebuild anything for me (just got some parts), but I've heard good things about them. I'm guessing any shop thats good won't be cheep.
