We just got our tax bill for my wife's 2020 Equinox and my 2013 Silverado. In Georgia, you pay all your Ad Valorem tax up front when you register your vehicle the first time, so really all you pay annually is the tag fee. If you purchase a new vehicle, or if you buy a used vehicle at a car lot and they take care of getting the tag, usually you can roll the Ad Valorem tax into your payment, which is convenient. As a disabled veteran, my truck tag is free, and the tag fee for my wife's Equinox was $22. They went to that system a while back, so anything you owned prior to when that went into effect, you still have to pay the Ad Valorem annually, but it isn't a lot. I definitely don't envy you guys on the west coast when it comes to taxes.
