• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

Claims its a roadster, picture is clearly a wagon.

Price in ad title $1, "fine print" says over $10,000 spent.

It really bugs me when my search for a project price level Bronco turns up a $$$$ rig.
I consider it deceptive to list a ONE DOLLAR price when clearly the seller will not sell it for one dollar.

Call it creative marketing. If he put 10k on the title, half the people looking for a Bronco would never open the ad.

I have a similar pet peeve in that I will not consider a vehicle for sale if the seller doesn't include pictures. Craigslist is a free service. One picture or 20 pictures, it costs exactly the same to advertise there.

My second biggest pet peeve is "too much to list". Really?

This particular Bronco is actually located about 20 minutes from me. So, if anyone needs someone to go check it out, I'm available.

Looks to me just from that pic like a quick body and paint job for a quick flip. At least its not rattle can paint I'm seeing some around here people are pulling them from the field sanding the surface rust and hitting it with rustoleum.

Some U13's came with hardtop and doors. It looks like it has the correct 66 hardtop & 66 doors. So I'm guessing it is the real deal. Depending on what they are asking for it, it doesn't look too bad except for the paint choices on the hardtop. It also has the correct 66 bumpers & tailgate.

Maybe I can get that 66 top I want for a buck and the Bronco too. I sent him an email.

Curious how a U13 would come with a hardtop?

Ok I understand the doors since inserts were a dealer installed item. A U13 VIN followed later on the same plate would then have to list Model U150. Please correct me but it shouldn't be? So then a U13 would come from the factory with holes drilled along the top of the rear quarters and rear posts for a hard top to mount. Thanks, Slim. ?:? Or should I be looking at the body type code of 96? What do the numbers before the 96 mean?

Anything is possible on these trucks. It could have been the original owner loved the Bronco but hated weather, returned to the dealer and had top and doors installed.

The original door inserts were not dealer installed items, they came from the factory. I'm not sure what you are asking about with the U150, or 96 body codes??? It is my understanding that any configuration could be ordered on a U13. They even offered them with 1/2 doors from the factory. The holes for the hard top were not drilled, but stamped when the tops were being bolted on, possibly the bolt was the stamp.

I don't think it looks bad to me. I had a friend in Colorado that bought his U-13 new and made quite a few changes over time, so it wasn't a quote factory product. However, he bought new and didn't consider it rare, only a very fun truck that I am sure passed down to his sons later.

With this one, the only thing I find weird is the heater box as it looks to be the same as the later models. clarrance would probably know more than I, but I thought the 66 broncos had the same heater box as the 66 F100 which looked quite differently?

I believe I would check, the glove VIN against the frame VIN and if it matches accept the fact someone dinked with it. Then buy it!

Oh it just dawned on me, that the second bronco I owned was a 66 bronco from Colorado years ago. It was a U-13 and I didn't even think a whole lot about it, until I went to sell it and the new owner told me.

But the point here, is that it had nothing original to the bronco. Everything had been changed on this rig, with the exception of the dash and wiring. It had a late model heater box too. It had the correct hard top and doors for the early years too.

Always got to read the fine print lol. The seller states that it's titled a u13........I see nothing in the ad that says it's not. Like others have said above, parts can and were added to change it's appearance.

I'm convinced that out there somewhere, there's one or more 68' u13's just like this 66'...........original owner added a top, doors, etc, and is now sitting off to the side of the house, in a pasture..........waiting for me to find it and not be able to afford it lol!! :)

OK Thank You! What on the VIN plate indicates roadster?

The original door inserts were not dealer installed items, they came from the factory. I'm not sure what you are asking about with the U150, or 96 body codes??? Clarrance, First of all Thank You again for helping us. Not sure where I got the idea of dealer installed inserts. I can see what you mean and understand the doors. Looking at the 1966 Bronco -- OPTIONS AND ACCESSORIES (provided by a member). It clearly shows where doors are a factory option on an open body. Since a long roof could be placed on U13, What is a Tell-tale sign on the VIN plate to indicate roadster? Is it the U130? Or do you need to get to the frame stamp to see the star on both sides of the number? Sincerely Thanks, Slim.

All the vin tags will look similar to the one pictured off the U13 website. The body code should read U130. You are correct the only way to verify a true Roadster is to compare the vin tag to the numbers on the frame. Visit http://www.roadsteru13.com/ for the most accurate U13 information.

1966 VIN plate located on driver side kick panel

The 1966 and I believe 1967 did not have glovebox VIN plate.
Or did these guys buy roadster glovebox doors and put them on wagons so they could call them rare?[/QUOTE]

Swapping glove box doors is discussed regularly here. Sure you can do it and guys have. Hopefully they fully documented what they did and modified the title/registration appropriately. Taking shortcuts in doing this could leave an owner open to claims of theft or a seller open to claims of fraud. You can replace a damaged frame with another; documentation is often required for registration and to avoid future potential claims of theft or other nonsense.

It has been posted on CB a number of times that the 66-67 VIN tag was on the drivers kick panel. Photos of the location are rarely (if ever) posted.

That might be it between the parking brake and the door strap here:

I can barely make it out here:
