My MP435 won't shift into the reverse position. It was stored outside for quite a while. Do you guys think this is in the top end or more serious?

Thx,

More details - the tranny was stored outside for a while then it was installed? If that is the case, did you have the top cover off at any time before installing? Could it be your shift rails in the cover are stuck?

Top cover rails sticky.
If top cover has been removed, the shift fork didn't engage the reverse idler.
The reverse idler is stuck on it's shaft.
A recent install- If the lower driver side tailhousing bolt is too long, it will interfere with the reverse idler. Usually grinds, but if long enough could prevent engagement.

Thanks for the responses guys!

The entire bronco was stored outside and tarped however the tarp got ripped and it was exposed to the weather for quite some time as in maybe two winters.
This is Flagstaff Arizona so there isn't much weather but nonetheless there would have been some snow accumulation inside.
It went into reverse before I parked it and now it won't go into reverse so I am hoping the problem is in the top.
