This has been talked about before - Hurst vs B&M - but now that I'm ready to go this route I can only find the B&M shifter. It doesn't look like Hurst has one available anymore - unless I'm looking in the wrong places ?? { Summit , Jegs , Quadratec} anyone know of another source?
Also the only B&M one I've found is listed for ' 96 -04 Jeeps -which I seem to remember is the one that works for us Bronco guys.
So I guess I'm just looking for some insight or more info before I order the B&M shifter.

Did you check on eBay?

You can find a lot of old stock parts being cleared out on there.

Since the B&M is made for a Jeep, it ends up pretty close to the dash, and awkward to use. I liked the way the shifter matched the JB twin sticks though and decided to modify it to work.

I installed the shifter, then used a disc grinder to cut out a slot almost through the shaft, at the rear of the shaft, just below the boot level.
Then sitting in my driving position, I pulled the shifter back to the point it felt just right.
I removed then removed the shifter, welded the slot up, and polished the repair. I had to use a TIG welded because the shaft material is stainless.

The quality of the shifter is nice with quite a bit shorter throw than the original. The shift gates are narrower than the original too and may take a little practice before you're comfortable with it. The original always felt like I was rowing a boat.

In this photo the shifter is in "1st gear" position.

^...very nice setup, clean, comfortable and easy to use.

What boot is that for the main shifter?

Any insight/advice on the shift boot installation for a clean fit that seals nicely? Do some boots work and fit better than others, what mfg? Thanks!

The tranny shifter boot is the Hurst one that came with my NV3550 kit from Toms. The boot on the on the twin sticks came from JB fab. I've since replaced that one with one from Toms because the first one tore. I think any twin stick boot should work.
I made a boot floor plate from a piece of sheet aluminum. It goes around both shifters. The shifter boots are bonded together with inner tube vulcanizing glue.

My " shift tower" is cracked so that's basicly the part i need. I could get a replacement from Jeep but if i remember correctly theirs is pretty spendy and then still made of that same molded material.
Thinking the aftermarket shift tower /.shifter assemblies are cheaper , have a shorter throw and are made of billet aluminum.

There are a lot of stock towers around for the NV3550 since a lot of Jeepers swapped in B&M, Core, and the defunct Hurst. You should be able to find one.

Ordered the B&M shifter - we'll see how that goes --

I'm interested in your cracked tower. I actually need the piece of the NV3550 shifter end that goes into the tower, with the silver half ball in it. PM me.
