here is one of those stories you love (or hate) to hear. i posted an ad for a hardtop and few other items for sale on here. guy answers ad and we get to shooting the breeze. i am building a rig with no top and no doors garage kept and only out in nice weather. i also want to buy another one for winter etc that i keep the top on. turns out this guy bought a 1966 he needs a top for and has a 1971 that he might sell and "needs work". long story short, i traded him my top and 800 bucks for the 1971. i got it home tonight and pulled the air cleaner. it has a late 70's or early 80's 302 in it with a holley 600, msd distributor, and headman headers. it has sat for at least a year. the tank was bone dry. i put fresh gas in it, dumped a little in the carb and it literally started on the first try! the engine runs like brand new! it also has a jerry-can, a spare hood in brand new condition, an extra set of doors, a brand new spare tire carrier, and a factory roof rack. best of all (besides this killer motor) is the custom made, all-welded, 6 point roll cage. looks like i'm going to pay a buddy of mine just a few bucks to paint it and i will do a little minor stuff. i am literally trying to have less than 2,500 in it and then post some pics for you guys.

anyway, point of the story is, this new friend of mine got the top he needed and some spare cash to put into his '66. i got another truck that will be on the road WAY before my '68. we both got what we want and all thanks to classicbroncos.com i am not sure what his user name is, or else i would give him big props. there are a lot of good guys on here and i really appreciate all the help you guys have been! sorry for the long post, but i am really excited! a couple questions will follow this post i am sure.

it's all good, 2B1. after reading the post -it sounded a bit like i was being a jerk about it. like i said though, it is one of those stories that you either love or HATE to hear. this website is great for stuff like this. unfortunately, these trucks have such a strong following now, that there are rarely any stories of catching one cheap. the days of seeing a cool old truck or muscle car sitting in someone's barn or backyard and getting it cheap are OVER! the internet has made checking values too easy. this case of my 71 was a mutually beneficial deal. the guy did not have to list the truck on ebay or here. he put no money out of pocket for the top and put a few bucks in his pocket. i am THRILLED with the deal, and he wasn't upset, so it worked out great. i cant wait to get home from work today and start working on it! i am going to try to post a pic or two of it. i am happy as hell because my '68 just seems like it is never going to get done. LOTS of work. there are days when i don't even know where to start! having this running 1971 will definitely take the edge off. i am going to try to get it painted by end of october with different doors and hood.

thanks again classicbroncos.com

ps, anyone on the east coast, especially the delaware valley, check out www.godragracing.com -it is a race site, but you cant imagine the deals on motors, trannys, carbs, intakes, etc

I meant the remark as a joke, but i see where it could be taken the wrong way... I have been in the same situation, and it is a great thing... I also know how you feel about having one that needs work... I have a 73 in the same shape... Good luck with yours....

This site is great, the people are very helpful and supportive of our addiction. Ive been on other (non-Bronco) Car sites and this is the best.
