Original Motorcraft alternator - replace?

This is the original Motorcraft alternator from a 99 Explorer donor - no idea if it works. Should I run it even though it looks like A$$? I've read the OEM units are the best. 20240719_162657.jpg

If you're concerned about the looks, it is possible to pull it apart, clean and spray it with something more pleasing. In doing that, though, you may run into issues inside, which would warrant rebuilding or replacing those parts (not sure how involved you want to get).

I'd run it too. It's such an easy thing to change that if replacement is required, it can literally be done in minutes...
