Has anyone here polised their own crank? I just started on mine today and it looks pretty good so far. How msuch horsepower do you think its worth? I will have it all balanced as soon as I can get it done. The rods will be next.

Are you polishing the journals or the crank itself ? Everything is horse power. Even it it isn't real measurable, it all adds up in the end. If you had a 600 hp engine and it gained ONE HP it wouldn't seem like much. BUT, when you only have 200 to start with one hp is pretty big gain. If you grind and polish the sides of the rods, do them before you have them resized or balanced. You might also want to have them shotpeened. Man, I love free horsepower ;D even if it is just a little.

could be worth what ever your engine puts out but as far as gaining anything I would say 0 polishing the crank just ensures the journals have a smooth surface so no hot spots are created preventing siezed bearings
