Hey guys. Got a wierd problem in a Bronco I have just installed Power Steering on. I used the 3.1 lock box that many of the Bronco suppliers sell. Whats going on is that on the freeway or highway at 65mph or so, when I slow to exit, and coast up to the boulevard, I'll come to a stop and the steering has no power anymore. Like it's manual all of the sudden.... give it gas and go 10-15 feet and it will start to work again. I can drive all day in stop and go traffic going up to 40-50mph and slow to a stop again and the steering stays fine. It's only when I'm at speed for extended periods of 2800-3300 rpm and then coast down an offramp to a stop that it cuts out....

Pump? Any ideas. I'm using a kit from one of the Bronco suppliers many use - has the HD Saginaw pump that is a shiny plated one, and the "new" steering box, which I do believe is indeed new.

Had a similar problem with mine. Same as you it was a setup from one of the vendors. PS started cutting out for no reason then got worse from there. Turned out to be the pump, had to replace it. The pump didnt have many miles but was about 5 years old. Pulled the cap and couldn't see any movement in the fluid so knew it wasn't working. New pump solved the problem. Napa sells the pump bodies to replace the pump and reuse the reservoir.
