I am thinking about buying a 4 barrel Holly 570 to replace the two barrel on my 302. I found someone selling one that was used for only two months on a 351. He decided he wanted something bigger. It comes with a fuel line. I have attached a pic. He wants $200 for it. I think that is good deal. What do others think about the price?

That's a good deal I think. New it would cost double that and it's only slightly used. a 570CFM should be perfect on the 302.

If you are adding the 4 barrel to your existing 2 bbl motor, you will get alot more benefit from it by upgrading your cam as well. Otherwise you will be wasting the added fuel...

Thanks for the comments. I just needed some assurance that I was heading in a good direction. I want to go efi one day, but I think the 570 avenger will work great until then.

While I dont disagree that camshafts help. A good exhuast system is even more helpful. Small fords need a lot more help on the exhuast side than the intake side. Your not really adding fuel with a vacuum secondary 4v carb as the carb will only flow as much as the engine needs. Plus if tuned properly and driven fairly conservatively your fuel mileage will go up but a good exhuast will allow the the improved intake to work better.

I agree. I have a dual exhaust and am hoping to get some shorty headers in the near future.
