Question about Seam Sealer, Bare Metal and Line-X

I'm having my interior floor sandblasted, then metal work done on whatever we find. I can't spray, and I won't use rattle can self-etching primer before Line-X. I want it done right and I'm not worried about cost (which doesn't mean "cost is no option!") ;D

Because it may be days or weeks between sandblasting and Line-x (metal work in between). I think I'm going to have it all media blasted (second blasting) AFTER metal work is done and then immediately go to Line-X (they liked that idea).

So, seam sealer. I read that it needs to be fresh before PAINTING, as in put it on that same day or so as paint. What about line-x? Does seam sealer need to go on right before Line-X, or can it go on a few days before? The Line-X guy (the owner was gone) didn't know.

Thanks for the insight!

I spray a high quality epoxy primer one day and then seam seal the next. Let it set for a day or two and then send it to get lined.

Not sure why you can't spray it, but someone will need to

Who's doing the sealer? I did all my stuff myself, I read the label and did exactly what the manufacturer recommended, then sprayed away, oh and may I say " its MESSSY" LOL. Some require 24hrs dry time, some less, it all depends on the type of sealer, just have to go by manufacturers reccomendations. Dammit, all of my older pics are sideways. lol. Jim ;)

I don't know why you need seam sealer with the Line-X. The stuff goes on relatively thick and will cover any seams unless there is a big gap, which should be fixed anyway. I had mine done inside and out and didn't use any sealer. Line-X blasted, primed and coated mine after I did all the metal work, of course mine was a frame-off.

Now I think I've decided to get a sprayer and do the primer myself, though I have no idea what I'm doing. But, oh well. Seems like the best way to go, right?

As long as you're spraying a quality product, yes. I'm partial to southern polyurethanes 2 part epoxy. It isn't cheap but is easy to work with and is ideal for what you're doing. Just be sure to have the LineX applied within a week of priming.
