I have the ford disc conv. on a dana 44. my ? is How do i know if they are reamed already. I bought a complete 74 a few years back and it had them on it already so i asummed they where done but now I really don't know . Can the stock tie-rod fit in there and be torqed down? I think they may have done that .How far will tie-rod go in if they ain't reamed. I can"t seem to see a bushing in there.

All depends on what year of knuckles were used. 78/79 knuckles have large holes and require bushings for the stock tierod to fit properly. I've heard that some of the 76/77 knuckles fit others say the holes are to small and need to be enlarged. Basically you should check the fit so you may have to pull it apart and see to be certain but you might be able to have some one work the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the tie rod ends for any movement. Also If you see several washers stacked under the tierod nut that might be a sign that there is no bushing installed
