Very cool! Wonder where your head is at in relation to the roll cage?

Wondering that myself. I have 3 kids now teenagers that simply no longer fit in the stock rear seat and I've been looking for a viable solution. This could work....

Yep - 4 kids here - so looking for some options. Like the fold up so when they aren’t with me I can still have some cargo space ……

Fancied up boat seats would be my guess.
I think you are correct. I know one of the Bronco restorers was putting fancied up boat seats on the tailgate. This seems like a natural progression.

The older Toyota FJ-40 (I think that is the correct model) had opposite facing rear seats that folded up. At least you would know they were from a vehicle and not a boat (or whatever). Safety reasons/benefits???

If you get into a wreck in an early bronco it's not going to be good regardless.

Honestly, If you could make sure that the frame of the seats were structurally sound, properly mounted to both the floor and preferably a roll cage, with secured seat belts ,they'd be just as safe as the rear bench seat.

In my mind I imagine someone getting rear ended and their little necks snapping sideways. Not good.
Comparing anything safety wise to the factory rear seat is well not great either. Didn't come here to argue, but throwing up a point of view that might not have been considered.
I upgraded my rear seat as soon as funds allowed to something with a headrest and a more substantial base.
