Removing factory paint from the speedo bezel?

What is the best way to remove the black paint from the aluminum bezel that sits behind the glass of the speedometer? The paint in mine is cracked and half flaked off. Would like to strip it and either polish or repaint.

i just used some aluminum polish and it came right off

Any strong solvent will do the trick (Acetone, Paint Remover, 3M Adhesive Remover). Use a a clean rag, then polish with a microfiber cloth.
