Restoring original hubcaps. Paint?

Scored a set of originals for the '77, but the flat black paint in the little "valleys" is faded or worn off in a few places. If anyone knows what kind of paint is correct and will work best I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks
Greg

oldiron, others will chime in with suggestions for paint/painting. But over the decades I got tired of paint looking lousy and not lasting. So a couple of decades ago I cleaned and thoroughly polished my caps, and then carefully cut and applied black trim tape. It sticks much better than paint and obviously lasts longer. The process is exceedingly meticulous, but the results are worth it. I started by making paper templates, cut the pieces and carefully fit them. A nice winter project.

That looks good Mars. What kind of tape? Did you buy new center rings or repaint?

And, I would venture to say that you could sell the snot out of those if you built some "kits"!

Do you have one of those "Crickut" things? Or whatever they are called... You could write a program and cut them just like they do the vinyl "wraps".

That looks incredible!

Greg, I just used some trim tape roll off the shelf at the local auto store. It is something like 1.5 inches wide.

rpmgarage22, I have a bad habit of coming up with these things that could be sold if I was ambitious. But really, this is one of those things that is much cheaper to do than pay for therapy. Maybe in my retirement. Ha! As if that will ever happen.
