Background: after 20 years of running, it's time to remove my 98 Explorer 5.0 and swap in a 351W. My current setup has the OEM Explorer dipstick, which is barely accessible between the upper intake (also OEM Explorer) and hydroboost, but it's adequate.

On the new engine I'm using the Crown Vic dual sump pan that all the vendors sell, with screw-in dipstick. Also, it is getting OEM style EFI so the upper intake manifold will be in the same place, only a bit higher. The supplied dipstick is way too short, by almost a factor of 2.

The Explorer dipstick won't work because it presses into the engine block.

So, I'm looking for a *really* long screw-in dipstick tube and dipstick. I estimate that the tube will need to be at least 30" long in order to put the dipstick handle up where my current one sits. The only documented solution I've seen here- yes, I searched extensively- is Mike Chuzie's, last post in this thread: https://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=251233&page=2

Any other ideas?

you can build your own screw in tube and just lengthen the dip stick. fill with proper amount of oil and mark new dipstick

I had a custom/long dipstick made for my 351W through Duff's by Lokar.
I remember the fellow on the phone at Duff's joking " you could probably check the oil from the driver's seat"!:)
