Does anything go on the shift rod other than this bushing from Toms? Like a c-clip to lock it in place? The Rod keeps falling out of the lever attached to the column.
Thanks!

It's worn out if it's falling out. That one goes into the shift arm first then the rod goes in. Kind of a pain but that's the way it works.

Thanks Jim, do people drill a hole in the shift rod and put a cotter pin in it? Seems like for such a crucial part it would have some kind of lock.

I have seen the cotter pin thing done. When the bushing is in new condition it's not necessary. They lock into the shift arm and the rod locks into the bushing. They are very hard to take apart at that point.
