Soft Doors without inserts??

My truck is getting sorta beat up so I was considering making some soft doors for it because the old metal ones just don't fit well anymore. I was thinking about making the bottoms from metal with a frame and sheetmetal, then then the upper half would drop in like the heep ones with zip-out windows. I am not sure how fancy I want to get with them, so I am looking for ideas. Anyone done something similar?

Bestop sells soft doors that are used without inserts. You may want to take a look at theirs. I think you can see them on their website.

They also make the kind that are used with inserts.

I've been looking for insert-less soft doors for ages. If Bestop makes them I've sure not been able to find them. On their site I see the following description:

Fits Jeep Wrangler, Toyota Land Crusier and Ford Bronco Roadster.

My plan for this is to have some canvas covers made for my tube doors that are shipping to me here shortly from one of the guys on this board. They won't be a perfect weather seal but better than nothing.

I thought Bestop part number 51772-01 was an insertless soft door, but now that I've googled it I'm thinking I may have been wrong.

Pretty sure 51772-01 is the soft door that requires inserts. If its not, I might just sell my new tube doors as soon as I get them and buy the bestop doors.

I am nearly positive I have not seen a manufacturer make them. So I am planning to make my own, just not sure of a few things. I guess I'll just have to take a closer look at my Dad's bestop on his heep.
