Some solid progress to report - exhaust pics

So...as you may recall...my initial days of ownership of the Bronco were pretty frustrating...a dishonest mechanic who has since been dealt with...

Anyway....I am happy to report that I am making solid progress on Ginger...

To date, I have completed the following....

Replaced battery
Replaced power steering hoses
Installed new carb
Replaced shocks with new Bilsteins
Replaced heater hoses and water inlet elbow (silly plumbing part in there)
Replaced the exhaust - new 304 stainless muffler and exhaust with ball joint selector.
Replaced valce cover gaskets

The next phase will include:

Power disc brake upgrade
Front end work


Stage 3 will be more cosmetic in nature....

deal with minor rust in floor pans
carpeting
some audio

Been fun driving her a bit -- and each improvement makes her that much better -- even if it stresses the pocketbook a tad.

Try Carl zeh auto repair, they deal these days mainly with older vehicles. They would have no problem fixing anything on early broncos. Tell em Clay sent you over if you choose to go.

I had one custom built by a company called Stainless Specialties and I love it!

I was shooting for a somewhat quiet ride.

It's the best exhaust system I've seen on a restoration. Very close to original. The oval muffler tucks up better than the round OE type. The tail pipe is close to the stock '77 style and well thought out. Was it made by a muffler shop or a kit? I hope you weren't hurt too bad financially by the crooked mechanic.

Thank you. I'm trying to keep things as stock as possible while improving quality where I can. Exhaust and muffler are both stainless. Exhaust was installed by an amazing shop here on Long Island called United Exhaust - no kit. http://www.unitedexhaustshop.com

The owner has 28 years of experience and also, as far as I know, is the only place around that can do mandrel bends.

Looks like a good job on the exhaust, however, I would dispute those being mandrel bends, at least the one at the end (can't really tell about the others), it looks like a typical crush bend.

But like I said, it looks good and you won't/shouldn't have any issues with it.

Jim - Didn't mean to imply that mandrel bends were utilized on my exhaust - just that he has the equipment in his shop for folks that require the service.
