I would have to say a step bit/ unibit. Lowes and Home Depot carry them. At least this is what I used on my floor pans.

Do you have a store called NH Northern, or Northern Supply. Its chain store. They have them..thats where I got mine. Hope you find them. Drill bit will work too, just drill slow so you don't burn the bit up?

I know this isn't instant gratification but I ordered mine from Eastwood and had it in two days. I see you are in Chesapeake. I'm in Northern Virginia so it may be the same for you.

Do yourself a favor and save some time and your back. Check out one of these cutters, I know they are a bit more expensive, but they are WELL worth it. I have personally used almost every cutter out there over the course of my project and this one is by far the best I have come across. I get an average of 100-150 spotwelds cut with one head. This kit comes with the arbor and 3 heads. Should be more than enough to do whatever you are doing on one rig....

Merlin76 is giving you good information. I also have the Blair cutters. (Broach) I had to buy mine as 2 different parts. On one card was the cutters,3. And the other card was the part that held the cutter and chucks up into the drill. Slow speed and some wd40 is the key to making the cutters last. I took off both rockers and the first cutter is still sharp. They do a good job. I wish the drill part was about 2'' longer.

Hey I sold paint supply's for years but the day I decided to drill out mine on the window shield frame...I only had a 3/8 bit that was sharpe ...used it ....about 40 holes... it worked took lots of time ..but worked ..
SO GET TO DRILLING ...maybe even a side or die gringer on some of the spots..

Like I said before, I've had good results with a Dewalt 3/8" Dual Point drill bit.
Most hardware stores sell them and it doesn't cost much.
With the Black and Decker brand its called Bullet Point. Just center punch the spot weld and drill, It doesn't have to go through, depth only needs to be enough to where you can split the panel apart.

No offense to you guys who use the standard or dual-point drill bits. I know they work, but they are still a pain in the @$$. As I stated earlier, the Rotabroach is by far the best way to remove spot welds. Plus you get the added bonus of not getting into the metal underneath the pannel you are removing, thus making it easier to prep for the new pannel. This is the easiest and cleanest way to do what you want, and they don't cost that much more than the coated dual-point bits....

Anyway, just my $.02

Good Luck!
