Does anyone have a spreadsheet with actual or estimated costs for a build? Looking for all parts itemized.

I'm looking to start a build with my teenage son and was hoping someone had already put one together.

If you have one you're willing to share, pls send to my email. Tcfrock@gmail.com

Thanks!

I'll try and remember to send you mine tomorrow. Mine is a complete rebuild so almost every part is being replaced, very little was reusable. It's a very thorough spreadsheet.

I don't know...... Pricing out a passion, maybe not a great idea. I stopped counting on mine long, long ago. There are some things where ignorance truly is bliss.

Appreciate any and all assisgance/\comments.

I also thought this would be a good guide as a build sheet. While i think i have a good idea what all will need to be addressed I'm realistic enough to know I don't have a clue.

I could never do that. Seems I always forgot something. So I just work on half at a time. Body then axle then what ever else I want to. Best thing I found out is don't worry about money. Because it's going to cost

I don't mind pricing parts...it's when I start to think about what my time is worth that things get a little concerning. That said, EB's are at least as good as anything when it comes to hobbies, and maybe better than most IMO.

Assuming your doing a total nut and bolt restoration/resto mod here are some numbers from experience.

Figure around $20-30K in parts. Paint and body work depending on quality and who does it your looking $3000-30K, average shop paint will be 5+, show quality being 15+. If you want an exotic engine or anything fancy add another $5000-20,000K. YES it adds up fast!

I see your in appleturkey, I'm up in Farmington if you need anything. There's also a few guys down there too.

always triple initial estimates in time & money

This!

I have two Broncos- and no idea how much I have spent on either of them. I have a folder with all the receipts on my first one... and I keep it well hidden from the better half!

I have several Broncos in various stages and I document everything on Mircosoft Word because I'm not great with Excel. I have a manilla envelope also that I keep the reciepts in. I could've had one really nice Bronco by now but instead I've spread the $$$ towards each one, wouldn't do it that way again but too late.

Estimate about $35k for a frame off that has some good parts and a few nice things. Save money on the things that don't matter on the build such as keep the open diffs or factory limited slip over an expensive locker if it's a street rig. Same thing on transmission choice, a three on the tree is fun and unique now days - unless you need to drive on the highway plus stop and go traffic, then get an OD tranny if you wish. A soft top is about $600 but the body work on a hard top could be about $3000. Do you need a full cage, bumpers, winch, and all those things that add thousands to the build for a truck that will never go off-road? Do you need HID headlights, carpet kit, all new seals/felt/lenses/plastic pieces or whatever you have never even thought of? What I discovered is I don't really want to take my Bronco off-road and dent or scratch it up now that I've paid a restoration shop about $15k and put $20k in parts on it. I'll stick to the lighter trails (2-3) and hopefully pass it on to my sons.

I know this is an old thread but has anyone ever posted a spreadsheet for their build? I have been doing searches but could not find what I am looking for. An estimator with tabs for all of the things required for a restoration or resto-mod upgrades would be interesting as most people get into it and the costs add up instead of deciding how far to go before you get going. I found other threads (attached) online but not for EB specific. http://v8speedshop.com/index.php/free-restoration-project-planner-download

I would assume a lot depends on where you are located.

Maybe I was not clear, I am not looking to get an estimator for local costs, just trying to build a sheet that addresses all of the choices so I can plug in numbers regardless of area. It would be a good way to plan how far to go on a restoration or mod.

I'm doing one right now on my son's build. I am basically using a spreadsheet like the one posted above. It's ongoing and I update it every time I spend some money on it...parts,shipping,taxes,and labor. Right now it just looks like a on going grocery list, but after the build I will go back and organize it by sections.
Hopefully you have Excel program.

Just remember to talk to your son about the cost for he will appreciate it. Also, don’t let your wife find the spreadsheet. Not worth the discussion.

No worries! Don't have a son and my wife could care less about my spend. I am fortunate to not have to deal with a nagging wife on stuff like that.
