I think u have to choke up on your clamp in the engine bay side on your steering shaft.

Loosen the two bolts under the dash holding the column in as well as the column clamp in the engine bay. This will loosen the column and you can slide the whole thing up to close that gap. Re-tighten the clamp and two bolts under the dash and you should be good to go.
