Thinking about buying a set of these, anybody running them? I will be doing 95% of my driving on the road dont mind noise just wondering how they handle on the street, from what I've read the ssr seems to be more road friendly if I am wrong please let me know.thank you.

I have used both on a ford f350 powerstroke. Almost all the driving was on the road. The ssr's were 36" and the tsl radials were 38". For ride quality i liked the ssr's better, and they seemed to last longer. The tsl radial's weren't bad ride, but they were a bigger tire too. Either one is decent, but they are definatly not a regular tire for the street. I am running Pro Comp xtreem mud terrains now, and they are a world of difference, but a completely different style of tire.

I run Super Swamper 36/14.5/15 radials on my rig. They work on the highway just fine. You need to make sure that you run radials if you want to spend anytime on the road.

---I have run 95+ (gulp) with these tires
---Tough as nails off road ---- almost nothing affects them
---Radials air down better and provide and wider foot print and softer ride offroad
--- Great traction offroad ---- really good !!!!

I still haven't found a better (overall) tire to use for my needs

I had a set of 33/14.50x15's, and I couldn't get them to balance for anything. I sold them to a kid who just wanted them offroad, put 35/12.50x15's BFG KM2's on the same wheels, work great. So far I love them, I probably won't run another set of swampers.

I've been running 35 12.50 SSR's for the last 3 years. I haven't had any balancing problems and for a Super Swamper they are quiet, they do well offroad but not as good as some of the other swampers, IROK, TSL, Bogger. I have no complaints from the service I have gotten out of them but will probably go with a bias ply swamper next time since my rig doesn't see as much road use as I expected it would.

I wanted to try the KM2's but they don't make a 37" for 16" wheels. Has anyone tried the Pitbull Rockers?

I always thought I'd want to try out the KM2's also, but the price on those things are staggering !!!!! ----- at least compared to other choices for less

I run 38" SSR's on bead locks and use dyna beads to ballance them. They run smooth as silk and don't make much of any noise. Offroad they do good and bad.
When aired down the side walls flex great for good traction on rocks and sand (dry conditions). When you get into wet conditions the tight tread pattern packs dirt in which is tough to spin it out. The soft side walls can puncture easier than a Bias ply. but you don't have to worry about flat spots with radials.

I run the 36" TSL radials. I've actually run several sets over the years. It's a great tire that performs well across the board. I feel you get the most bang for the buck from this tire.

However, since you spend 95% of your time on the road, I'd highly recommend running a BFG mud terrain. You'll get a bazillion more miles out of them, and they will still do just fine offroad.

Hey 68, where did you get your roll bars? Looks like an interior and exterior for 1/2 cab. Just what I need.

My TSL (37s) radials were the worst tire I ever ran. Maybe I got a bad set. Entire lugs riped off. I HATE THEM (Anakin voice). My IROK radials are the best tire I have ran. Both the 37s and the 40s are taking the abuse from the rocks and still driving down the road with great results. I have no dog in the fight, we don't sell tires. Good luck with your choice.

I have heard that the Iroks work well in the rocks but do they work well in mud also? I live in the southeast and need something that works in the mud here and on the rocks when I travel to drier terrain.

There isn't a 37" TSL radial. Do you mean SSR?

X2 here, I tore out sidewalls on two of them in a one month period on rocks that my BFG's and MTR's bounce off of.

Its a standard cage with added supports. I drilled holes thu the half cab and welded the cage using mirrors...
I ended up cutting out the back window so its removable for summer months.%)

Just double checked the tires are in the shop on Johnny's rig. "Radial TSL 37x12.5x15 Super Swamper" Thier old they might not make that size any more. It's not an SSR I can't remember if I've ran SSRs or not. I also ran the SX and didn't like those because of the street manners. It was like driving on bricks.

As for the IROKs and mud I don't know first hand. Its probably not the best mud tire but it's aggressive enough. It has my vote for best all around use in the over 35" category. Street, rocks, sand, mud (what little mud we have here in CA)

Swamppers suck on the road!!! They are almost impossible to balance with standard wieghts!! If you are going to mainly use your rig on the street stick with a MT tire from BFG or another major brand you will get alot more miles out of the tire and the ride quality will be 100 times better. Thats just my 2 cents.
