Surprised to not find anything on this.... But I have a new dennis carpenter tailgate. When to put on the handle crush nuts, but after 1 turn, they stripped out and I can't "crush" them. Any alternatives/suggestions out there for this?

Thanks!

mine had backing plates on each side with 2 nuts welded on them. This is how it came from Ford.

This is how I did it after going thru several and watching videos that seem to skip over this part.

Now I’m fearing I did something wrong. Mine went in pretty simply. I followed instructions and all seems to be fine...

I saw those crush nuts on a web page over the weekend if you need a source. I can figure out which site

I think you are looking for Riv-Nuts. I am not sure how big they make them but they are used with a POP rivet tool. I have bought them in a package with a few re-usable threaded rods just like the piece used for pop-rivets only they are threaded on one end. You screw the threaded end of the rod in the threaded rivet and install it just like a pop-rivet. unscrew the rod after assembly and re-use.
