Tailgate latch linkage

Does anyone have any tips and tricks regarding how to reinstall the two rods that run from the handle to the latch on the tailgate?

Also, what hardware is required to bolt the tailgate handle plate to the actual tailgate? There's holes in my tailgate but they're not threaded?

Any help is appreciated.
