wondering how everyone is fastening the QP inserts to the body? the easiest way is to screw them on however wondering what other options we have? looking for a clean look no bolts/screws exposed. must be some kind of clips, pins available that we can use? was also thinking 1/4" 3m double sided tape might work...

i have the inserts made for a soft top that i will be using with on my 67 with a hard top.

thanks

I used 3 M panel adhesive and pop rivets every 3-4" all the way 3 sides.

Mine are screwed on. While at first, all you'll focus on is the screw heads, over time in the grand scheme of things you'll likely not even see them.

my initial thought was 3m double sided tape, then i thought velcro but that's getting a little thick unless the industrial one your friend used Doug is slim but strong? then i thought to not over think this and use the screws with the dome washers that my headliner came with to match the panels.

i like the idea of velcro so you can remove the panel if you ever need to do so

cheers

This last time I installed quarters panels I used thin super high power magnets and glued them on to the back of the panel. Works great

I'm using velcro now...very strong but is thicker than I'd like and does leave a gap. I'll either end up screwing it down or using the clips.
Mine are black so would likely use black screws and black dome washers.

I'm actually installing some now. I'm just using black trim screws. If you use some painters tape to lay out the location and spacing of the screws, everything looks really clean.

Here's a link to the magnets. The 3m double sided tape isn't going to hold long. I used 3M panel adhesive and glued them to the panel (Used that because I had it, but I'm sure many good adhesives would work fine).. They're ultra strong magnets!

Here's a picture of how mine look. They're not TBP, but mounting would be no different... Screws eventually loosen up and rattle (my last ones I screwed down) magnets hold tight with no rattles

Very Nice!!
Went ahead and ordered some.

Another problem I have with the velcro is that the panels sit really close to the roll bar sides so to remove the panels I have to slide them up....Vlcro doesn't slide %). I take my panels out a lot cause I actually haul all sorts of stuff in the back so I think the magnets will work soooo much better!

Thanks for the heads up on this!

You're welcome. Wasn't my idea either though. Another Bronco brother named Jeff taught me about these magnets, and they work great! Got my Amp power step controller attached to the engine bay apron with these magnets too ;D

Has anyone else used magnets to install quarter trims? I am looking to do the same thing but don't want to see a gap at the top of the panel. Has anyone found magnets that work well and are thinner than those linked (3mm)?

Thanks!

Thanks for the link!

It looks like they have some thinner ones that are about 1.5 mm thick so about the width of a quarter.

I think I will try those and glue them to the back of my quarter trims. Hopefully the magnets and glue will be strong enough to hold the panels in place with speakers in them.
