Interesting read. My 8274 winch which has the metal connector and was originally made for j**p, does not have the date coding. It does have a serial #80294 stamped on top. It has been on my Bronco since the early 80's and I bought it used.

Very cool and fun read. I have one of these new in the box waiting for my bronco to be able to drive again so I can install it.

I tried to get them to donate one for the Raffle Bronco, since it is a classic I said it would be perfect for our build. They politely said no and that they would donate the xd9000i. It was worth the try.
