Two questions for you guys:

Does your lower coil wire go all the way through the retainer? Mine only goes maybe 1/2".

Does your coil wire rest on top of the retainer? I could understand if the coil was compressed from flexing, but the first picture is completely uncompressed (no weight of vehicle) and the second picture has the weight of the vehicle.

Appreciate any help! Trying to troubleshoot coils. Thank you

Mine were the same way. I unbolted the cups and rotated them 180 degrees and put the retainers on the inside of the axle. Has worked great for the last year or so now with no issues.

I made my own lower coil cups, and am running Cage coils, but I have about 1 1/2" of coil sticking through the retainer.

Hi mpboxer, hard to see from my phone but yes the retainers go inboard as said and once you correct that you should be able to rotate the coil and get more through the retainer. This should also keep the coil from resting on the retainer. Hope this helps

I use those also and the coil sits in there at an awkward angle even under load. alot like your first picture. Doesn't seem to effect the performance but looks a little bit odd.

Got home to my computer. Now I can see the pics. You got them right but I would try and turn/twist the coil a little more to get them through the retainer further. I have the same stuff and my coils reach through the retainer by 1" clear. Oh and my first coil barely rests on the retainer.

Thank you for looking again Blue, I'll give that a shot!

I didn't think you could turn the coil since the top is indexed? Flipping the bucket 180 degrees will fix it though.

If the coil can't be turned a little more up top to allow more to go through that retainer in the bottom, I might have to try that. Thank you!

As others have mentioned the retainer goes to the inside, on both sides.

Notice the coil wrap on old/stock springs versus new springs in the 3rd pic. Not all spring are created equal. I have seen varience in spring wrap end-lenght and the radius stopping point, from spring-to-spring based on such things as manufactuer, age & lift size. The new springs we're getting today from the popular vendor's are are so much better quality compared to the springs of yester-year.

Anyway, the end tail lenght of the new springs are all the same & always in the same location, but not nessesarily in the same end location of the springs you took off. As shown in pic #3 the bottom tails are lined up, but look how far different the top tails are compared to old springs. Therefore they "appear" to not sit proper when they are unloaded. And even when loaded the softer springs of today have more give, maybe even a little soft and gooey, but that softness is what gives us the quality ride.

Looks to me like you have a nice set up.....

EDIT...sorry for the underline. I hit a wrong button somewhere when posting, then when I tried to fix it, it got worse.

After I made comments about the tails all being the same, I got to looking closer at mine. I was wrong...the bottom tails are NOT the same distance through the retainer's on mine either. Mine look just like yours.

Here's a pic of the drivers side, on the bottom of the coil you can see it sticks through the retainer.

Here's the best pic I have right now of the pass side, the lower coil end does NOT extend through the retainer

And here's a pic of the front suspension loaded, engine installed and all the weight on the front end suspension -even though its sitting on blocks. Hard to tell from this pic, but it apears reasonable "level" to me and no sag to one side or the other. But after this I'm going to ck it w/ a tape measure tommorow

Thank you Whoaa! It's a work in progress on the limited budget I have. Thank you for looking into yours.

Still waiting on my back ordered rear springs, so once those come in and I install them I'll try and make some of the changes everyone has suggested. It has a pretty serious California lean (nose up) with the rear on jack stands. After talking with others, this might have an affect on the front and the weight distribution.
