People use it and it can work. Though there are products that are specifically designed for this application. Permatex and others make them and a few were mentioned earlier in this thread. If you used it and its all back together, just forget about it. Good chance it will never be an issue.

Short answer is there are products that are designed specifically to seal threads. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, Blueprint stressed on multiple occasions to use a thread sealer, stating they see more failures with people using blue and few to none with people that use thread sealants designed for this applications.

See two below. First is just a sealant, the second is a sealant combined with a thread locker.

Oh just great. It’s been over a year since I did that, starting year 5 tomorrow, and now I gotta worry about whether I put enough thread locker to have sealed those bolts, NUTS! Still don’t have it running, but I work on it a little every week. I sure hope it don’t leak, but if it does, I guess it might be more original than I planned. ;D

As that link shows, Permatex says that IS a thread sealer.

To help in this thread I emailed Permatex and asked what should be used to seal the flexplate/flywheel bolts. Here is how they responded.
