Tranny (C4) fluid leaking

So when I am pointed skyward wondering if i am going to roll over backwards I start spilling (stream) trans fluid. I seem to remember a "vent hole" on the trans side of the t-case adaptor. The more i think about it I think this is where the fluid os coming from.

Does anyone know what the hell I am talking about? Can I just plug this thing? the trans has a vent tube on the shifter side so plugging this hole in the adaptor shouldn't seal it.

yeah...you might not want to plug that vent...bad very bad. If you plug that vent..your just going to blow seals all over on your tranny. Chances are your tranny is running hot (any additional tran cooler?)...or you added to much fluid.

You can just run a rubber vent line off the intermediate...This should keep fluid from spilling at sky view

trans temp is normal, level is low enough after spilling a few times that it dissengauges from driving untill I level back out again!

So I take it that this "vent" is on all of the adaptors, then there must be other people that have had this problem! What are they doing?

If you haven't heard the name Todd Zuercher you have been in a cave. Here is a link to this, another of his many tech articles. I have the same thing.

Thanks guys, just what I was looking for! Any problems with "T"ing in the front vent from the trans to this line so that both vent up to the engine compartment?

I had seen the trans vents stuff befor, I just thought that it was for the vent off of the trans itself, not the adaptor vent.

Yeah, Todd Z.'s the man. Stole the original idea from his tech pages. Lots of good mods there!

I won't combine the two into a "T". You get any fluid in either, you could end up mixing the tranny fluid from the C4 back into the gear oil from the 20 and vice versa. Run separate lines.

And this is percisly why I posted that. Why would there be a concern about gear oil at this point? The hole I am talking about is currently spewing trans fluid, The other vent that I was talking about "t"ing in to is by the C4 shift lever and modulator on the side of the trans.
